MarketLive recently polled more than 1,000 shoppers about their behavior for the upcoming 2009 holiday season.

Among the significant results:

– 55% intend to shop online for holiday presents this year, up from 49% last year.

– Social networking sites will have a massive impact on shopping this year; roughly 50% more that 2008.

– 26% plan to buy more presents using the Internet, up from 21%.

– 70% said they’ll go to competitors if they find out of stock goods on certain websites.

– 85% named convenience as the main draw towards shopping on the Internet.
